Let's go.

This is my comfort zone.

Not pretty, is it?  And it says a lot about what I do for "fun": sit on one very specific part of my couch, staring at a glowing box [my TV! Gah, get your mind outta the gutter!] and eat all my meals on a tragic little TV table that cost me $12.99 at Target. You could definitely say I have left my impression.  You could make a mold of my ass using just a couch cushion (I don't think it would be a big seller, though).

I need to kill that comfort zone.

I need to kill a lot of comfort zones.

I bet you do, too.

So, here's what. In my first KYCZ act, I am starting FOUR projects today and will be treating the right side of my couch like a crime scene.  I'm going to tape that sucker off and give those overworked cushions a nice vacay.  Then I'm going to get to work. AND, I'm going to let you in on it (fully aware that "you" may be just one person who reads this, but that's cool with me).

I also will be asking for feedback from you.  What are your comfort zones?  What have you always wanted to do but were too freaked out by the possibility?  What do you think I should do? Wanna do something crazy together? We'll get to all that. First, I want to let you in on my plan (mwah-ha-ha) - here's what I'll be working on for at least the next 365 days:
  1. You're looking at it.  The Kill Your Comfort Zone blog: in which I will kill my various comfort zones (or just give 'em a good pinch) and do things that challenge/excite/scare the hell out of me.
  2. KimHarne365: a 365 creativity project which I am launching in tandem with two friends (we need to keep each other accountable).
  3. The ~ing Project: in which I will follow twelve month-long activities to add more "~ing" to my life, using the great book by Gabrielle Bernstein
  4. Write every day: it was my first creative love and I have been neglecting it.

I know, I know.  It seems like a lot to tackle, especially in addition to my full-time job and my part-time job of doing theatre.  I may even have to become [shudder] a morning person. But I know me. I get a lot more done when I have a lot more to do.

I also know that I'm real good at starting things and not so great at seeing them through (I'm looking at you, four previous blogs that were abandoned after one post.  Oh, hello there, two ex-husbands!). So, by being super public about this one, I am hoping I will keep it up.

Ready?  Okay.

Let's go.
